Scandic Hotel
Project Location: Vaasa, Finland

Scope of work: DesignFit was hired to design a contemporary façade solution for a project in a harsh Nordic climate, aiming to create a visually appealing, energy-efficient, and durable glass façade that could withstand extreme weather conditions.

Design and Materials Selection
-
Reynaers Unitised Curtain Wall System: A high-performance unitized curtain wall system was selected for large, uninterrupted glass surfaces, providing excellent thermal insulation and weather resistance.
-
Schüco Stick Curtain Wall System: A flexible stick curtain wall system was used for more complex geometries and openings, allowing for customization and intricate detailing.
-
High-Performance Glass: Low-E glass with advanced coatings was selected to optimize thermal performance and reduce energy consumption, especially crucial in the cold Finnish climate.
-
Aluminium Profiles: Durable and weather-resistant aluminium profiles were used to create a sleek and minimalist aesthetic.
BIM Modeling with Revit 2017 and Clash Detection
To ensure accurate design and coordination, a detailed BIM model of the façade was created using Revit 2017. This model allowed for precise visualization, clash detection, and coordination with other building systems.
A thorough clash detection analysis was conducted between the façade model and the structural engineer's model to identify and resolve any potential conflicts early in the design process. This ensured a smooth and efficient construction phase.

By carefully selecting high-performance materials and leveraging advanced BIM modeling techniques, DesignFit delivered a façade solution that not only met the functional requirements but also enhanced the building's aesthetic appeal and long-term performance.
